Flower Garden

August in the Flower Garden | Coming Back To A Scottish Heatwave

Back to work in the flower garden. For the last 2 weeks I have been away on a family summer holiday to the Orkney Islands, one of my favourite places with lots of great childhood memories. But deciding to take a 2 week holiday in the summer when flower farming is always a risk. Will there be flowers to come back to?

This week we look at the flower patches and see what has happened over the time I was away and what I am doing now to get some flowers coming through for the rest of the season. How are you coping in your gardens with the prolonged dry and hot weather we have had this summer in the UK?

Below is a list of the flowers that we look at in the video and are in bloom in August:

Cornflowers
Scabious
Dahlias
Cosmos apricot
Helichrysum
Rudbeckia
Sweet peas
Daucus
Acroclinium Grandiflorum
Snapdragons
